The Perfect Day for an Art Fair

Gee whiz, I don’t think a person could possibly ask for a more beautiful day than Sunday at Lawrence Art in the Park! The sun was warm and bright, and people were out in the masses taking in the rays and enjoying the artwork.

I’m not sure what the other artists experienced, but I thought the turnout was great! My booth was hopping, with people streaming in and out all day. I know, this photo doesn’t exactly show the crowd . . . Brandon said it was one of the few times he was able to snap a shot without lots of  people in the way, passing by on the sidewalk in front of my booth.

In the end, I sold two pieces and got a couple of contacts for potential commission work lined up. It turned out to be a pretty successful Sunday!

Lawrence Art in the Park 2008

When: Sunday, May 4, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: South Park, 12th and Massachusetts streets, Lawrence

Cost: Free

Age limit: All ages

Description: This long-time Lawrence tradition features over 150 artists, musical performances, and children’s activities. This—the 47th annual event, sponsored by the Lawrence Art Guild—is a great opportunity to support area artists and perhaps select that perfect Mother’s Day gift.

I’ll have a booth with my acrylic on plexiglass artwork. Stop by and enjoy the fun atmosphere because the weather is suppose to be great!

Exhibiting in the Gallery at Lawrence Public Library

Last night Brandon and I ventured over to Lawrence to hang my show, "Thoughts, Dreams & Pretty Things II," at the Gallery of the public library. It’s a nice space – sort of separated from the rest of the library. I’m showing 26 paintings, with 3 new pieces on display for the first time – Paradise, Pacific Sun and Four Spring Flowers.
I had just finished framing Pacific Sun and Four Spring Flowers the night before, so I didn’t get a chance to take any photos. I’ll post some as soon as I can!

My night at Kimbari

Brandon and I spent the evening showing my artwork at Kimbari in Lawrence on Friday. There was a really nice crowd out for the Gallery Walk, and I got the opportunity to meet and talk with lots of people! Kate and Raphel provided a really nice spread with wine and finger foods.
If you haven’t been to Kimbari, you need to! They have the coolest merchadise: jewelry, bongos, rugs, and all kinds of tribal home decor. I bought 2 fabulous bracelets and Brandon got a hacky sack.

Check out the photos on the Kimbari Gallery page!

Visit me at Kimbari Tribal Arts on Friday

Did you miss “Good Day, Sunshine” while it was on display in Kansas City? Well, Friday is your last chance to see the show while it’s on display at Kimbari Tribal Arts in Lawrence as part of Lawrence’s Gallery Walk. The show runs from 7-9 pm, and snacks and drinks will be available.

The Kansas City version of “Good Day, Sunshine” was very successful. I ended up selling 3 of the 15 pieces of artwork on display. Hopefully that success will continue at the Lawrence location!
