A Younger Vision

I didn’t get to hear/see all of the people elected to the Task Force at last night’s Heartland Visioning Community Meeting, but I definitely saw a trend – we were young, and we were professional!

Along with myself (jones huyett Parnters ) and my fellow Transform Topeka member Gwen Gigous (Schwerdt Design Group ), two other young professional women that I know were elected: Heather Clarke with Security Global Investors and Andrea Kohker with MB Piland . And there were several other young people that I didn’t know.

And that doesn’t include our peers that were already invited by the Steering Committee. I only know a handful of them: fellow Transform Topeka member Brandon Sheley (vBulletin forum owner), Carrie Jo Gros of WIBW-TV , and Andrea Austin of Sunflower Marketing . And I’m sure there are others.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I see this as a sign of progress in Topeka. I finally think some people are ready to listen to what young professionals have to say, and to realize our talents and what we have to contribute.

  2. More from Marsha….I invite your group to attend the strategic planning session for the Chamber’s Fast Forward program on Wednesday, June 2 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. here at the Chamber. The Chamber is “listening” too and we want to make sure the program is responsive to what young professionals in the business community need and want. Let me know if you’re coming.

  3. Hello Marsha, thanks for visiting our site! We all attended the meeting on Monday night, we thought it went really well. We look forward to seeing the results from all three meetings. Thank you for the invitation to the Fast Forward planning meeting, a few of us are members of the Topeka Chamber and we are very interested in getting involved with Fast Forward.
